The Educational Scholarship assistance has ended but the following information will bless you as your learn how Barnabas Ministries assisted in the education of over 1,000 young people.
Education is the means by which impoverished countries can emerge from the shadows of its past. Barnabas Ministries, Inc. has been deeply involved in helping to foster the growth of education for those most in need of assistance. After elementary school in the Philippines, children must pay tuition for a secondary education. Many of their parents are unable to provide for these expenses.
College - Barnabas Ministries phased out its acceptance of new students at the close of the 1999-2000 school year, however, those still in the scholarship program at that time, will be continued until graduation. Some of the high school students in the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Calarian, Zamboanga, Mindanao, who are currently sponsored by Barnabas Ministries, will be continued into college providing their sponsor continue their support. We project the last student will graduate in 2008. More than 1,000 young people have been helped with high school and college educations since this program was started in 1985. The program will continue to be monitored by clergy and responsible lay persons in the Philippines, with bi-annual reports to Bishop Weeks in additional to visits from Bishop Weeks when necessary.
There are no plans to establish scholarship assistance for students in Africa.
