African Ministry Information

Bishop Weeks says, "Children have always been a primary focal point of Barnabas Ministries, beginning with the establishment of Child Care Centers in the Philippines, four of which are still in operation and now funded through the Alexandra Foundation in Michigan. In October 2000 Barnabas Ministries learned of the CHARIS Center in Kampala UGANDA and for four and a half years received funding for this ministry. Now it is time for us to help others.

SPECIAL MINISTRY IN AFRICA

CHARIS CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Barnabas Ministries began in October 2000 receiving funds for the CHARIS ministry to children in Kampala UGANDA. For four and a half years we have assisted in this ministry. As has been our practice on the mission field, we have assisted this program with aid to help it become self sustaining. Now we are switching our assistance to another worthwhile children's program in an effort to encourage them: CHARIS of RWANDA.

Bishop Emmanuel Ngirumpatse of Rwanda has three centers; one located in Kigali and the others in outlying provinces. $10 a month will support one of the children in the Charis Center. How much can you or your church accept?

Bishop Emmanuel Ngriumpatse of Rwanda recently accounted for a wire transfer. In addition to helping with the salaries of the two teachers supervising the school program, the children are receiving food and drink during the school session and also the children in the Cathedral on Sunday receive likewise. He said the parents are very happy with the CEC Missions help.

  • Much of our African work has been teaching Convergence Theology and Practice to the African clergy coming from various backgrounds into the Charismatic Episcopal Church. Now Bishop Weeks is retired but continues to support the mission work in the Capital Diocese of Tanzania and the Diocese of Rwanda.

    BARNABAS VEHICLE PROJECT

Through the kind generosity of so many mission-minded people, we have successfully completed this project by purchasing a Mitsubishi Pajero for Bishop John Obokech in Kampala, UGANDA; for Bishop Hannington Bahemuka of the Mountains of the Moon Missionary District of Uganda; and a third vehicle has been purchased for Bishop Moses Ngusa, our Maasi Bishop in Kenya. In addition we have purchased a HIACE van for Bishop Daudi Chidawali in Dodoma TANZANIA, and money given for the pending purchase of a vehicle for Bishop Charles Sekelwa in Mwanza TANZANIA.

This completes Barnabas Ministries' Vehicle program.
